Association Newsletter for February is available here

I heard from Gloucestershire SWD group recently. They are celebrating their 75th anniversary at their Annual Garden Party in August. they have moved from Norton to Dundry nurseries, Cheltenham. I have a feeling it was the coffee shop with excellent cakes made on the premises that might have had an influence? It sounds ideal, there is the nursery which is a business, however there are gardens and buildings used for community projects. The money the Guild donate for the use of the building goes towards the butterfly garden. There is an idea to develop a dye garden which the members can use. In the summer they can sit outside and craft. This is a prime example of how we can help others and ourselves, a brilliant symbiotic relationship. I will be visiting later in the year to try the cakes myself, and give a small talk on the Association.
Dorset Guild has a small exhibition to also celebrate their 75th Anniversary at Dorset Arts and Craft Association, (DACA)  5th-9th August 2022 to be held in Wareham, Purbeck school.  The following year, 2023, Dorset Guild will stage a much larger exhibition based on the History of Dorset GWSD as one of the founding members of the Association that we know today. This will be less artefact led, more information about our skills, fibres, local sheep and why we needed to preserve these skills all the way up to today and the continuation of said skills. I will be asking the other founding member Guilds if they have some interesting material in their archives, we could use……

FibreQuest will take place 19 & 20th March at Fernhill Farm in Somerset
